Emily Rabinowitz
After ten years in the entertainment industry and working in corporate environments Emily decided it was time to make a change and enjoy life. She made a commitment to pursue her creative outlet full time. As the daughter of an artist/interior designer and an architect Emily learned to appreciate color and the satisfaction of physically building designs developed only in her mind. For six years she has continued to develop those designs as well as her techniques in making innovative pieces of jewelry that she and her clients can enjoy forever. While instructing her students Emily is able to share her passion for jewelry making which understandably drove her to establish STRAND BY ME.
Alexandra Salkeld
Alexandra learned the craft of jewelry making on the job at a Santa Monica bead store, where she worked for 3 1/2 years while attending UCLA. She taught private and group classes in basic stringing, knotting, and wire wrapping. Currently, she acts as assistant designer for an independent West side jewelry business, and also enjoys creating and selling her own pieces on occasion. Alexandra’s interest in teaching bead-craft stems from her desire to share in the creative process with others, and help them discover the satisfaction of tapping into their own artistic strengths. She appreciates the instant gratification of building something beautiful, wearable, and personal, which also makes a great gift.
Tricia Berman
Tricia's real initiation into jewelry design began when she stumbled upon some extraordinary vintage, Czech glass beads. She became fascinated with using the simplest materials, essentially wire, beads, and string to create pieces. Working at Ritual Adornments in Venice, CA, a unique bead store and a magnet for creativity, she learned how to experiment and devise solutions for customers with often specialized projects. She earned her degree in Art History and later a masters in Education, both at UCLA. Four years of teaching elementary school have provided Tricia with a more in depth understanding of teaching both adults and children. She has a great passion to share the love of crafting jewelry and to help awaken this passion in others.
